The IFLP/BCDSS Family Asset Center Project is one that brought the
Baltimore City Department of Social Services (BCDSS) various programs
directly into the community-which would be viewed as a friendly option
and alternative for families instead of going into BCDSS city offices for
services.   They would instead be comfortable in a church and/or family
environment to receive various BCDSS services and programs.
IFLP, working in partner-
ship with BCDSS, identified
churches in Northwest,
Southeast, and Southwest
Baltimore to be “sites” for
the Family Asset Centers.

One of the first Family Asset Centers is located at
Faith United Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland
IFLP acted as a liaison between BCDSS and the Church.   After
initial meetings and a Church Readiness Assessment, IFLP set up
meetings with the identified churches and BCDSS  project head
Jane Smith.

After all meetings; churches sign an MOU (Memorandum of
Understanding) which will be tailor-made for that specific church
according to their specific needs.
